Terms of engagement for clinical services provided by Dr. Nitasha Borah.
By engaging with the services of Dr. Nitasha Borah, you agree to the following terms and conditions. Please read them carefully before beginning therapy or any other clinical service.
Dr. Nitasha Borah provides clinical psychology services including individual psychotherapy, couples therapy, group therapy, psychological assessment, and organisational consulting. These services are provided in accordance with the ethical guidelines of the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) and the Indian Association of Clinical Psychologists (IACP).
Psychotherapy is not a substitute for psychiatric or medical treatment. Psychologists in India are not licensed to prescribe medication. If medication is indicated, Dr. Borah may provide a referral to an appropriate psychiatrist or physician.
Engaging with clinical services constitutes your informed consent to the therapeutic process. Before or during the first session, you will have the opportunity to ask questions about the approach, process, and limits of confidentiality. Consent is ongoing, you may withdraw from therapy at any time without penalty, though wherever possible, ending therapy is discussed and planned collaboratively.
For clients under 18 years of age, consent must be provided by a parent or legal guardian. The involvement of minors in therapy and the disclosure of session content to parents or guardians will be discussed explicitly at the outset.
Therapy is most effective when clients engage honestly and consistently. You are expected to: arrive on time for scheduled sessions; provide accurate information about your circumstances and history; communicate any significant changes in your situation; and notify the practice promptly if you need to cancel or reschedule. The therapeutic relationship is professional in nature and must remain within those boundaries.
In couples therapy, the therapeutic relationship is with the couple as a unit, not with either individual separately. Any individual contact with Dr. Borah (including messages, calls, or separate sessions occurring within the couples work) is not confidential as between the two partners, and may be brought into the therapeutic work at Dr. Borah's clinical discretion. This applies unless the disclosure constitutes a clinical risk requiring independent management. Both partners are informed of this policy before couples work begins, and engagement in couples therapy constitutes acceptance of it. Where one partner discloses information that fundamentally changes the nature of the work, Dr. Borah reserves the right to pause or end the couples engagement and discuss the way forward with both parties.
All information shared during sessions is strictly confidential. Information will not be disclosed to any third party without your explicit written consent, except in the following circumstances:
The therapeutic relationship is strictly professional. Dr. Borah does not engage in dual relationships (personal, social, or business) with current or former clients where this may compromise clinical objectivity or client welfare. Contact outside scheduled sessions should be limited to administrative matters such as scheduling or cancellations.
Fees are as listed on the Fees & Policies page. Fees are subject to change with reasonable notice. Sessions exceeding the standard duration will be charged on a pro-rata basis. Fees are exclusive of applicable government taxes and bank transaction fees.
A minimum of 48 hours' notice is required for rescheduling or cancellation without charge. Full fees apply to sessions missed without notice or cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice. Rescheduling is offered within the same week where possible but does not apply to no-shows or last-minute cancellations. See the Refunds & Cancellations policy for full details.
Individual therapy intake is subject to waitlist availability. Being placed on a waitlist does not constitute a guarantee of a session slot. Dr. Borah will make every effort to contact waitlisted clients as soon as slots become available.
Online consultations are conducted via secure platforms. Clients are responsible for ensuring a private, quiet environment and a stable internet connection. Timely arrival is essential, delayed starts cannot extend beyond the scheduled session end time. Sessions are not recorded without explicit written consent.
Dr. Borah is licensed to practise under the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) and operates within the ethical and legal framework of India. Clients accessing services from outside India are responsible for verifying whether receiving clinical services from an India-based practitioner is permissible under the laws and regulations of their own jurisdiction. Dr. Borah does not accept liability for any regulatory non-compliance arising from a client's location.
Dr. Borah reserves the right to end the therapeutic relationship in the following circumstances: where the presenting concern falls outside her clinical scope of practice; where a client's behaviour is threatening, abusive, or endangers the safety of the therapeutic space; where a client is not engaging with the process in a way that permits meaningful work; or where clinical circumstances make continuation inappropriate. Where possible, termination will be discussed with the client in advance, an explanation provided, and a referral offered to another professional. In cases involving safety or serious boundary violations, immediate termination may be necessary without advance notice.
Clinical records are maintained securely and in accordance with RCI ethical standards. Clients may request access to their records subject to applicable professional and legal guidelines. For information on how personal data is handled, see the Privacy Policy.
While every effort is made to provide high-quality clinical care, therapy outcomes cannot be guaranteed. Dr. Borah's liability is limited to the professional duty of care required under RCI and IACP ethical standards. This practice does not provide crisis intervention or emergency mental health services. If you are in crisis, please contact emergency services or attend your nearest hospital emergency department.
